Caught

Caught

Collage / 2006

10 x 10 x 1"

This collage is a meditation on the ephemeral quality of moments in time and the way our decisions inform forward movement or stasis.

This piece includes many types of papers-- including rice paper, manilla envelopes, magazine pages-- some semi-transparent and layered. All the elements are ripped; any hard lines are created by the edges of papers or the graphic imagery.

The collage is composed entirely of contemporary papers, glued to a cradled maple support, and varnished for UV protection. The paper elements wrap around the edges of the wood support so the piece does not require framing.

"Caught" was exhibited at the Rocky Mountain Collage Society exhibition in Grand Junction, Colorado in 2008.
