Well, here is a recent scene of artwork at the front door, ready to be shipped out, with supervision by our "Director of Homeland Security" -- my constant studio companion -- who somehow has never been featured in this blog! Millie is a nearly-8-year-old standard poodle with amazing athletic and ball-handling abilities, as well as good company!
Artists for Obama
Here is a photo of my daughter and I taken at the Obama rally in Denver on Sunday, attended by 100,000+ Coloradoans. It has been interesting to live in a "battleground state" during this election season! Among many other reasons, I am supporting Obama because of his support of the arts and their importance. The Obama campaign has an arts policy fact sheet on their website. If you'd care to take a look at more specifics and supporters, check out the full platform report. The Obama Arts Policy Committee asked committee member and author, Michael Chabon, to "describe the critical importance of the arts at this moment of remarkable opportunity and challenge in our nation’s history." His essay on page 5 of the report is great.
Past Lives Catalogue
Here is a photo of the show catalogue with the Foundling piece featured on the cover. It is on top of a collage that I'm finishing up... so, a bit wild looking! Above the collage photo is the poem that Hilary wrote to go along with it. Inside, each work from the show is shown with its companion poem.
Foundling
One of the pieces from my Foundling series was used to promote the Past Lives show and was beautifully framed, along with its poem, at the entrance. The collage itself is only 7 x 5". Here is a photo of me from last weekend's poetry reading / performance at the gallery by "Sojourn" that featured works written for this show and music -- it was great. Kudos to Hilary for putting such a big collaborative project together so successfully.
