The show was organized by assemblage artist Dale Copeland of New Zealand.I'm happy to have two collages in the show, Introspection (above), and Alter Ego/Foundling."Introspection" was created on top of a catalog page that featured a photo of a model wearing a sweatshirt. The draping of the sweatshirt's folds somehow reminded me of the lines of a face. (I know, I know... I see oddball things in everyday images, without even trying!)Once the background was established, the other elements surfaced rather quickly to complete the image. Junk Mail Journal Collage circa 11.27.10
Haven't posted one of these in awhile... The 4-day weekend has given me time to return to this exercise in composition that deals only with what came in today's mail. It's always fun to play with paper and connections in my sketchbook.
Reveling in the changes
in Inspiration
After returning from a inspiring business retreat last week, I have been reveling in the unusually warm weather and the gorgeous bright colors in our neighborhood. Yesterday was probably the last day of walking the dog without the need for a cozy sweater (or considerably more layers) for quite a long time. So we made it a good long trek!
Thought you might enjoy seeing some of the colors and textures that I'm finding inspiring as the seasons change. Soon my surroundings will become much more delineated and stark... I believe snow is in the forecast for tonight!
Nature is providing interesting parallels to some of the changes I'm considering making in my work as well. More on that as it becomes clear.
